The Windermere Dental Practice always welcomes new patients. Whether you need emergency treatment, wish to try a new dentist, or have not had a check-up for years, our dentists will be able to help you.
Patients can call in person, telephone the practice on 015394 46135, or request an appointment through our website (Contact). Our receptionist will contact you and arrange a convenient appointment.
When a New Patient appointment is arranged, we will send you an information pack that includes a welcome letter, practice brochure, a leaflet about our Denplan Care monthly budgeting plan, a fee scale and a medical history form for you to fill out and bring with you to your first visit.
When making your first appointment if you have any particular requirements please let us know in advance. There are steps to get into the practice but our reception area and all of our surgeries toilets are all on one level.
Once in the surgery you can expect to undergo a thorough dental examination. This includes the following aspects;
An assessment of pain, bite and an assessment of the patients views on the appearance of the teeth.
An oral cancer screen is performed. A full examination is carried out on the soft and hard tissues of the mouth for signs of abnormalities. Unfortunately oral cancer is becoming more common in this country and we have a policy of thoroughly assessing our patients at each examination.
An examination of the bite is carried out. This includes how the teeth meet together, how they slide over one another and the how the jaw joints are functioning.
An examination of periodontal tissues (gums).
We examine each tooth for signs of dental disease such as tooth decay or failing restorations.
We take any relevant x-rays that may be needed to aid in complete diagnosis.
We can then discuss the findings and the treatment options available. At this time an estimate of treatment costs will be discussed and an idea of the number and length of appointments given.
A written estimate will be provided
Appointments can then be made to best suit the individual’s requirements.
Late Cancellations and Missed Appointments
We kindly request that if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment you give us at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations and missed appointments do not allow us time to offer the appointment to other patients who require an earlier appointment. Unplanned gaps in our schedule also contribute to the increasing cost of dental care. There may be a fee charged in the event of a late cancellation or missed appointment.
